RHSE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education)
In the UK, parents have the right to request their child be withdrawn from the Sex Education component of Relationship, Sex and Health Education up to three terms before they turn 16, as stated in Relationships Education, Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education (DfE, 2026).*
The request will be considered at the discretion of the Principal, taking into account the statutory guidance and our school’s Relationships, Health and Sex Education Policy.
*Parents do not have the right to withdraw their child from Relationship, Health Education and Science lessons where there may be crossover in content and themes.
** From three terms before the pupil turns 16, a pupil can choose to opt back into Sex Education even if their parent(s) has requested withdrawal. It is our responsibility to inform pupils of this right.
