St Peter's RC High School and Sixth Form Centre

Science

In Science, we are commited to ensuring ALL students:

  • build an adoration for the world we live in
  • are able to make life choices that have a positive impact on themselves, their communities and the wider world
  • engage pupils in their science learning

St Peter’s RC High School students will become well informed, environmentally respectful students who:

  • will become inquisitive learners
  • promote a growth mindset and motivate pupils into working hard
  • will be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain how and why things occur
  • will be able to predict how things will behave and analyse evidence of what has happened
  • are encouraged to be creative and to attempt to solve problems
  • can enter society with the needed skills and knowledge to live a full life

The goods of the earth are gifts from God. We have a responsibility to care for these goods as stewards and trustees, not as mere consumers and users. Students will develop an appreciation that we are tenants of one community on Earth. The need to live in a sustainable manner ensuring resources are not simply drained and wasted but nurtured and preserved for the next communities.

Curriculum Overview by Year Group and Term

Additional Information: Students following the combined science course will also have 1 hour per fortnight of Science Maths Focus to review key mathematical skills needed to access the science course, and revise the required practical experiments.
