Attendance
From September 2015 the Government changed the definition of a child who is persistently absent from school. Previously a child with 15% absence was regarded as being persistently absent but this has changed to 10%.
As a school we expect our students to achieve at least 97% attendance. Students who attend school for at least 95% of the time achieve their target grades whereas students with 90% attendance or lower achieve one grade lower. To put it simply, students who are not at school do not make the progress they should. We look for parents and carers to support us in ensuring that pupils are in school unless they are very unwell. Parents and carers should not make requests for their children to go on holiday in term time.
