Level 3 OCR Cambridge Extended Certificate in Business

The course is equivalent to 1 A-level and will gain UCAS points which are recognised by all Universities. The OCR Cambridge Technical is 66% exam and 33% coursework. The courses have been designed specifically alongside Universities and the business sector to cater for both learners wishing to go to University and to equip students with the skills required for full time employment in the business industry.

In Year 12 students will study for their exam; Types of businesses / aims / objectives, Functional areas, organisational structures, stakeholders, relationships, finance and business ethics. Students will carry out a project on Marketing.

In Year 13 students will study for their exam, protocols, management of staff, HR, factors impacting meetings, communication with stakeholders and business documentation

Students will also carry out coursework units alongside their exam preparation. This includes Marketing and market research, Customers and communication followed by project management in Year 13.

No matter which route you follow; all these business courses can help you prepare for further and higher education such as an HND or BA degree. You will become skilled in making decisions, being creative, solving problems, understanding finance, dealing with data, communicating and working as part of team. A Business Studies course could lead to work in a business-related profession such as accountancy, law, marketing or the leisure and tourism industry.

Research by UnLtd shows that over 247,000 companies are founded by young people. A report from Santander also estimated that 80,000 UK university students run a business, and a quarter of these plan to turn it into a career when they graduate.
