What is Business Studies?
Business is a practical and work related course. It will equip and provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life and further education.
Business Studies may be a completely new subject to students, however we will be studying companies that you are familiar with, such as; Superdry, Apple, Cadbury, McDonalds, John Lewis and local firms such as Janes Pantry, Mira Kohl and Gloucester Rugby. You will be surprised how much business knowledge you already have!
What is Economics?
The skills and knowledge developed when studying A-level Economics will be useful in a variety of careers and degree courses. Students are taught to think critically about a variety of economic issues, to develop the ability to write analytically, to use economic data to support arguments and to communicate clearly. Through study of Economic concepts, students develop an understanding of how global economies work, political influences on the economy and the need for innovation to stimulate growth.
Trips
There will be a selection of trips available to students in Years 10 - 13. These opportunities will help to support and give a clear context to learning back in the classroom. The Business Studies and Economics Department are hoping to run the following trips;
- Cadbury World
- Tutor2U Revision Workshops
- Brickhampton Golf Course
- We are open to all ideas, especially if any parents are willing to let us visit where they work.
Could you support our department?
