Homework

Twelve key homework tasks per subject.

Students have dedicated homework and assessment books.

Feedback sheet in the front indicates the grades for each assignment.

The idea is to show progression and highlight areas your child needs to work on in order to achieve their target.

Further details of key homework for each half term are provided on Show My Homework.

Subject teachers will also be setting homework for controlled assessments and revision for tests and mock exams.

Four academic snapshots will be sent home this year.

They are designed to provide you with an indication of what level of attainment your son/daughter is at in each subject.

They are based on exam criteria. Teachers will set an appropriate snapshot task based on the demands of their subject. For example, they could set a mock exam, an exam question, an essay, a piece of controlled assessment, etc.

In order to help your sons and daughters to reach their full potential, we have arranged compulsory catch-up sessions for students who achieve U grades in the snapshot assessment.  The dates are as follows;

•Saturday 25th February - 9.00am-12.00pm

•Saturday 11th March - 9.00am-12.00pm

•Saturday 1st April - 9.00am-12.00pm

•Saturday 6th May - 9.00am-12.00pm

There are two Year 11 Parents’ Evening this year.

The first is a traditional-style parents’ evening to ascertain how well your child has started his or her final GCSE year. The second is to discuss progress, mock and modular exam results as well as providing you and your child with the opportunity to talk about 6th form and the courses that are available.  Both these evenings will be based in and around the sixth form block.
